Police Officer Dornell Cousette was shot and killed when he responded to a tip that a wanted felon was at his residence..
 

As Officer Cousette arrived on the scene, he observed the male subject flee inside the residence. Officer Cousette pursued the subject and an exchange of gunfire ensued. The subject then fled the scene, but later showed up at a hospital, where he was taken into custody. Cousette was shot in the facial area and succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Officer Cousette had served with the Tuscaloosa Police Department for thirteen years.He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his two daughters and his fiance'.
