Cause: Stabbed

Officer Green was stabbed to death by a prisoner inside the Mobile County Metro Jail's sally port. The subject had been arrested earlier in the day after he attempted to rob a dollar store, then lit the counter on fire. Officer Green transported the subject to jail. During the transport, the subject was able to free one hand from the restraints and retrieve an unknown sharp object. As Officer Green stood waiting for the intake door to be opened, the subject fiercely stabbed him in the neck, severing an artery.

The subject then stole Officer Green's service weapon and vehicle and fled. Other officers pursued the subject to a home off Dauphin Island Parkway where he engaged them in a shootout. The subject suffered a fatal gunshot wound during the exchange of gunfire.

Officer Green had served with the Mobile Police Department for 20 months. He is survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.
