Cause: gunfire

Deputy Brill was shot and killed by the owner of a liquor still after he and two deputies destroyed the still near Calvert. The offender was arrested and charged with Deputy Brill's murder. He was convicted and sentenced to death but later commuted to life and subsequently paroled in 1940.

Deputy Brill had served with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office for (unknown length of service). He was 39 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and seven children.
