Cause: motorcycle accident

​

Corporal McClinton was killed while in route to a traffic assignment in the area of Government Street and Mohawk Street. After his motorcycle was struck, the driver left the scene.

​

On December 21, 1996, the driver of the vehicle that killed Officer McClinton was located and arrested. The driver was on probation for drug trafficking at the time of the incident.

​

Corporal McClinton had served with the Mobile Police Department for 20 years. He is survived by his wife and two children.
