Cause: Gunfire

Officer Deford was shot and killed while he and his partner escorted non-union workers across picket lines during the Gulf Coast Longshoreman strike, near the Port of Mobile.

​

Officer Deford had served with the Mobile Police Department for eight years. He is survived by (unknown information at this time).
