Deputy Robert David Stolz

End of Watch: November 17, 1975

Cause: gunfire

Deputy Stolz, along with Deputy Beck were shot and killed while searching a wooded area for subjects that had fired at another deputy earlier in the day. Both deputies were caught in the mist of gunfire, yet still managed to kill one of the two subjects during the exchange. The second subject was apprehended and subsequently sentenced to life.

Deputy Stolz had served with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office for two years.  He also served with the United States Navy as one of the first crew on the USS Kittyhawk. He is survived by his wife and son.
