Cause: Struck by vehicle

Corporal Matthew Alan Thompson was working an accident in the 4600 block of Springhill Avenue, under dark and rainy conditions. Corporal Thompson was assisting with loading one of the vehicles onto a wrecker, when he was struck by a motorist. The following day, Corporal Thompson succumbed to his injuries.

 

Corporal Thompson had served with the Mobile Police Department for 18 years. He is survived by his wife, son and two daughters.
