Cause: Gunfire

Officer Mason was shot and killed after responding to the a domestic complaint off South Hamilton Street. The suspect had barricaded himself in his garage after beating his wife and children. The subject opened fire on Officer Mason and his partner as they approached, killing Officer Mason. The officers managed to return fire and seriously wound the suspect.

The suspect was arrested and subsequently convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Officer Mason had served with the Mobile Police Department for four years. He is survived by (unknown information at this time).
