Cause: gunfire

Marshal Smith was shot and killed, while attempting to make an arrest of a robbery suspect. The suspect was later apprehended and convicted of murdering Marshal Smith.He was executed by hanging on May 31, 1912.

Marshal Smith had served with the Bay Minette Police Department for (unknown length of service). He was 47 years old at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife.
