Cause: gunfire

Officer Murphy was shot and killed after initiating a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle near Broad Street and Conti Street. The vehicle was later located in Picayune Mississippi and discovered to be stolen. Three weeks later, police arrested the 23 year old gunman.

Officer Murphy had served with the Mobile Police Department (unknown length of service). He is survived by (unknown information at this time).
